Program Overview:

NADAP's CareerCompass, one component in HRA’s initiative to address the unique needs of improving employment and training outcomes in NYC, provides orientation, comprehensive and individual employability assessments and service coordination for adults 25 years of age and older.  As the first step in HRA’s programming, CareerCompass will identify and connect individuals to an education, training and/or employment track.


Position Summary:
This position will develop internship and community service engagement openings for clients; market and recruit prospective employers for job placement, and establish and maintain a job bank for client referral. Will also provide placement referrals and retention services to CareerCompass clients identified as immediately job ready.


  • Achieve and maintain monthly internship and job placement goals as determined by Assistant Director.
  • Identify internship and community service engagement opportunities for clients to help fulfill their HRA employment requirements.
  • Meet with clients to discuss job opportunities, assist with scheduling interviews, and provide post interview feedback.
  • Assess and refer appropriate candidates to Business Link, Workforce One centers and other job placement assistance services. Promote CareerCompass employment services to area businesses to create future partnerships and identify job openings as they pertain to the business development strategy. Maintain working relationships with business associations within all service communities throughout New York City to identify prospective employers.
  • For those clients placed while attending CareerCompass, verify and document day one placements to ensure that employment information is accurate and in accordance with program mandates. Establish retention goal information with clients on day one of placement.
  • Identify, prepare and confirm job ready clients for interviews, including assistance with obtaining appropriate work attire. Assure clients have proper ID and documentation for interview/hire.
  • Provide follow up and retention services at 30, 90, 180 and 365 days to maintain 55% retention rate at 180 days and 45% retention rate at 365. Provide rapid replacement for clients who lost employment while enrolled in Career Compass.
  • Maintain and execute documentation and workflow through computer-based programs and technology that draws on basic software/computer skill set.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Education - Bachelor's degree
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in this field 
  • Knowledge with NYC area and could quickly make positive relationships with employers
  • Ability to engage clients in a group setting
  • Must have a dynamic personality and be able to quickly connect with our clients
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Bilingual a plus
