NADAP is a private non-profit organization based in New York City and Nassau. NADAP is seeking an HR Director to oversee 6 HR members as well as provide support for over 300+ employees.The HRDirector will be a hands-on, interactive HR professional who will develop, teach, and execute practices across all functional HR areas. This includes employee relations, recruiting, compliance, onboarding, organizational effectiveness, training and development, performance management, compensation, employee benefits, wellness, and internal communications.


The HR Director reports to the COO and will be responsible for all HR functions, including:

  • Formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to all staff that reflects the business objectives of the organization
  • Provides support on the design, development, implementation and communication of HR initiatives
  • Ensuring policy compliance with applicable company policies and governmental laws and regulations
  • Drives, influences, advises and supports the cultural and people aspects of organizational change, structure, people processes, and best practice initiatives
  • Works closely with management and colleagues to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues
  • Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of colleagues, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Be in the forefront and work with the staff directly to address their concerns
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR members to develop solutions, programs and policies

Key early projects:

  • Determine key metrics across all areas: what we should measure, when, why, and how
  • Identify and implement a retention and diversity/inclusion program
  • Design and implement competitive compensation plans


  • A Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Business, OrganizationalDevelopment, Human Resources or related field with at least 10 years of related; or a Master's Degree in Business, Organizational Development or related field with 8 years of related experience
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience as a HR member of the Sr Management team for a company of 100 or more employees
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, performance management, and federal and state respective employment law
  • Ability to quickly build credibility and rapport with the HR and Company Leadership
  • The successful candidate understands and proactively addresses the HR needs for the business, maintaining strategic alignment between the business and HR
  • Strong consulting, negotiation, problem resolution, mediation, and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable simultaneously managing others and producing a high volume of individual work in a fast-paced, dynamic, high-energy environment
  • Experience building out centralized programs and delivering training programs to all levels of the organization
  • Strong legal acumen related to employment laws and ability to work with outside counsel
  • Ability to travel within NYC to address employee relations issues
