    Program Overview:

    NADAP's CareerCompass, one component in HRA’s initiative to address the unique needs of improving employment and training outcomes in NYC, provides orientation, comprehensive and individual employability assessments and service coordination for adults 25 years of age and older.  As the first step in HRA’s programming, CareerCompass will identify and connect individuals to an education, training and/or employment track.



    Job Title: Job & Internship Developer


    Job Summary:

    To provide comprehensive business development that will generate internships, community service and alternative engagement opportunities for clients; conduct field work and outreach efforts to establish and formalize these partnerships; work closely with the Supervisor of External Partnerships as well as other program units to promote opportunities and generate client referrals to established partnerships.


    • Establish partnerships with local and community business to create opportunities for client internships, community service and alternative engagement; this includes colds call, field work and attending partnership events.
    • Achieve and maintain monthly goals which includes referring a specific number of clients to internship, community service and alternative engagement and creating a specific number of partnerships each month
    • Formalize partnerships with a Memorandum of Understanding and ensure that all relevant documents are obtained for management and funder approval
    • Collaborate with the Supervisor of External Partnerships to accurately track partnership data, maintain a tracker of all partnerships both pending and formalized
    • Promote internship, community service and alternative engagement opportunities to clients during group workshop sessions and one-on-one screening meetings, collaborate with CSC’s to formalize referrals
    • Maintain up to date information regarding enrollment requirements, slot availability and partner liaison for each internship, community service and alternative engagement partner
    • Meet with clients to discuss internship and job opportunities, assist with enrollment processes and obtain post enrollment feedback from both partner organizations and clients.
    • Prepare and finalize internship, community service and alternative engagement candidates for enrollment and acceptance into appropriate assignments- this includes ensuring they have all required documents, have completed all applications (online and written) and have a formal referral.
    • Update the client resource guide at least once a month, this guide includes resources for clothing, food pantry, trainings, housing and other resources applicable to client’s needs.
    • Update bulletin boards to reflect updated client resources, at least once a month, this includes flyers for training, job fairs, hiring events, community events and resources.
    • Collaborate with computer lab instructor to assist with creating and updating resumes following client completion of internships, community service and alternative engagements
    • Maintain and execute documentation and workflow through computer-based programs and technology that draws on basic software/computer skill set.
    • May be assigned other tasks and duties reasonably related to their job responsibilities. 



    • Bachelors Degree with 2 years of related experience.
    • Masters Degree preferred.
    • Working in an automated on-line system, demonstrates proficiency in use of applied information technology and on-line database systems; demonstrated keyboarding speed proficiency and accuracy preferred for a paperless case management system.
    • Some prior professional experience working within a community-based organization or the government sector, directly serving an under-resourced population required.
    • Experience working with public assistance population preferred.
    • Experience working in employment services or in social service-related field preferred.
    • Good verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule and to travel to various locations to carry out assigned duties.
    • Effective problem solving and interpersonal skills.
    • Bilingual in Spanish /or 2nd language a plus
    • Basic computer software literacy and computer usage experience.
