    Program Overview:

    NADAP's CareerCompass, one component in HRA’s initiative to address the unique needs of improving employment and training outcomes in NYC, provides orientation, comprehensive and individual employability assessments and service coordination for adults 25 years of age and older.  As the first step in HRA’s programming, CareerCompass will identify and connect individuals to an education, training and/or employment track.


    Job Title: Instructional & Career Readiness Supervisor

You are able to build a program to greatly increase the chances of success for clients with barriers to employment. 


    The Supervisor provides supervision, coordination and evaluation of work activities of the Career Readiness and Instructional staff for the CareerCompass program. The Supervisor adapts to meet the needs of the clients and the particular environment rather than practice a normative kind.This position is responsible for supervising Instructors and Orientation Facilitators based out of two program sites, one in Manhattan and in Brooklyn.

    • Develops and implements an effective weekly and monthly engagement calendar for CareerCompass workshops. Identifies workshop curricula that incorporate robust job preparation and assessment tools to assist clients in identifying and achieving their goals.
    • Manages, supervises and provides leadership for staff members.
    • Hires and trains staff on proper job readiness procedures, monitor quality and quantity of services and provide performance feedback to staff regularly. 
    • Ensures that all orientation and workshop sessions, held in both Spanish and English, are interactive and engaging. 
    • Ensures workshop facilitation is in compliance with program policies and procedures by observing and conducting meaningful evaluations to understand how learning impacts performance; maintain database of learning metrics.
    • Reviews and approves on-line job search and other materials appropriate for instructional purposes to supplement classroom instruction, including development and updating of appropriate handouts for CareerCompass clients.
    • Develops and fosters working relationships with CareerCompass management team, external referrals, HRA and other service providers as needed. Effectively collaborates with other CareerCompass staff to support program, policy and resource development, and client services.


    • Education and Experience – Bachelor’s Degree in social service-related field required with at least 3 years of progressively responsible and related experience.
    • Master's degree in Education, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, or related field preferred.
    • Management experience in a workforce development program.
    • Experience working in an automated online system and track clients activities throughout the program.
    • Some prior professional experience working within a community-based organization or the government sector, directly serving an under-resourced population required.
    • Experience in resource development, case management and referral.
    • Strong communication skills, including the ability to write well and make clear, concise oral presentations and written reports.
    • Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite and proficiency in PowerPoint.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule and to travel to various locations to carry out assigned duties.
    • Excellent interpersonal, analytical and computer skills.
    • Able to work in two work-sites - Manhattan and Brooklyn. Main location will be in Brooklyn.
    • Experience working with public assistance population preferred.
    • Experience or familiarity with the disability population preferred.
