Overview

To identify and encourage clients to engage in CareerCompass external partnerships including Alternative Engagement, internships, community service, training and education. Assist in meeting the goals established by HRA of required number of concurrent assignments and AE conversions.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with external partners including internship, community service and alternative engagement providers to identify opportunities for Career Compass clients
  • Liaise weekly with Alternative Engagement partners to maintain accurate and up to date  information regarding current and new education and training opportunities - and assist with assigning clients to these opportunities, as appropriate 
  • Provide information and face-to-face sessions for client pre-screening to determine if they are appropriate for concurrent assignments. 
  • Ensure that client referrals are individualized and provide follow up with external partners to confirm client engagement and progress. 
  • Maintain updated enrollment and assignment information for internships, community service and alternative engagement opportunities.
  • Conduct minimum of three presentations weekly to CareerCompass workshops participants to promote Internship, Community Service and Alternative Engagement opportunities.  Meet, pre- screen and refer clients, as appropriate.  
  • Work closely with the Internship & Placement Coordinator to maintain up to date information on internship and community service opportunities and assist with assigning clients to these opportunities, as appropriate
  • Support the Internship & Placement Coordinator in securing MOU’s with external partners for Internship and Community Service opportunities 
  • Collaborate with CSC’s on making referrals to concurrent assignments. Assist in the completion of HRA’s on-line Employment Plan (EP) and Individual Service Plan (ISP) for enrolled clients within 7 calendar days of client referral date
  • Assist with the placement of program participants into Alternative Engagement Opportunities, Internships and/or Community Service, achieving monthly targets as identified by HRA.
  • Work with Post Placement Coordinators to follow up and provide accurate information regarding client progress at external engagements site for a minimum of 1 year. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Formal EducationHigh School
Experience3 Years
Criteria that would be desirable but not required

Bachelor’s Degree preferred with at least 1 year of related work experience.

In lieu of a BA degree, an Associate’s Degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 3 years related experience.

Minimum KnowledgeRequires ability to interpret / extract information and / or perform arithmetic functions. May require typing, CRT, record keeping, or word-processing. May have need for good communication skills.
Updating of KnowledgeThe knowledge required to perform this job once learned has frequent changes, but the changes are relatively minor.
